When did you last reset your goals?

Associate Professor Szu-chi Huang asks in the if/then Standford Business podcast:

When did you last reset your goals?

More specifically, she reminds us that "there’s nothing static about goal pursuit. The whole process is dynamic."

This applies in two ways - first, consider if the best approach to reach a goal has changed. Are there new opportunities you could make the most of? Have conditions changed making the approach less efficient?

But more importantly, the goals you set in the past may no longer be relevant - the world changes, your situation changes, and hopefully you have grown. Is that goal you set for yourself sometime in the past really the goal you should be driven by now?
