Do your actions reflect your ideals?

Do your actions reflect your ideals?

We judge other people based on their actions - we have to, we don't have unbiased insight into their motivations, inspirations, intentions - their ideals.

This is in direct contrast to how easy it is to dismiss our own actions and instead focus on our ideals. You might like to think of yourself as someone who respects other people's time, but then always find yourself late for appointments. Your actions don't support your ideals.

"But I had a busy morning, the subway was late, the lineup at my favourite local coffee shop was out the door…"

Those excuses make it clear you tried to do too many things, you didn't leave early enough, and you valued a coffee over making the person you were meeting wait. Again, your actions didn't reflect your ideals.

The first step is asking yourself on a regular basis:

Did my actions reflect my ideals?
